Audition Overview

• Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled audition time to check in.

• Upon arrival, you’ll sign in, receive a name tag, and have your photo taken. You’ll be introduced to the production team present at the start of the audition.

• Please prepare the sides provided for any character or characters you are interested in reading for

• Walk-in auditions are welcome. Please arrive at 5:45 PM to sign up in person. Depending on availability, you may be asked to come back for a 7 pm or 8 pm spot. 

• If you are needed for callbacks, you will be notified by 12:00 PM on Tuesday Oct 20.

• All who audition will receive an email regarding final casting, whether cast or not. The cast list will also be posted online.

• If you cannot attend in person, video auditions must be submitted by Monday Oct. 19  at 6:00 PM to Derek Phelps at [email protected]  

 

Synopsis:  

Morris likes lots of things: doing puzzles, painting pictures, pretending to be an astronaut, and wearing a tangerine dress from his school’s dress-up box because it “reminds him of tigers, the sun, and his mother’s hair.” But some of his classmates think boys can’t wear dresses because … well, because they’re boys. With his vivid imagination and space-animal friends, Morris travels the galaxy in search of an answer to the all-important question: “Do astronauts wear dresses?”

Description:  A small child with a big heart. He is a dreamer. Lover of yummy snacks, enticing sounds, art, animals and a tangerine dress. 
Wardrobe Note: Morris wears a dress and heeled shoes as a central part of his identity and imaginative play.
 
Moira Micklewhite
Gender: Female
Age Range: 25 and up
Description: AKA Mom, She is the nurturing, and affirming heart of Morris’s world. She also makes really good pancakes! 
 
Becky
Gender: Female
Age Range: 8 – 14
Description: Morris’s Classmate, a snarky, know it all, who thinks only girls are allowed to wear dresses. 
 
Lila
Gender: Female
Age Range: 8 – 14
Description: Morris’s Classmate and Becky’s friend, who isn’t quite sure that only girls can wear dresses. 
 
Henry
Gender: Male
Age Range: 8 – 14
Description: Morris’s Classmate and an aspiring astronaut … but a little exclusionary, as far as explorers go. 
 
Eli
Gender: Male
Age Range: 8 – 14
Description: Morris’s Classmate and Henry’s friend. He is an aspiring astronaut who’s just looking for where great adventures are at!

Gender: Female
Age Range: 25 and up 
Description: An elementary school teacher with an inspiring classroom, kind smile, and keen eyes.
