The Des Moines Playhouse presents the 2024 Dionysos Awards on Sunday, Sept. 22, 2024. The Dionysos Awards celebrates the contributions of more than 725 individuals, giving 35,548 hours as actors, backstage crews, guest services volunteers, and classroom volunteers during the recently completed 2023-24 Playhouse season.
The evening begins with a social at 6:30 PM. The awards presentation follows at 7:00 PM in the John Viars Theatre. The event is free, but registration is required and available at dmplayhouse.com.
The Dionysos Awards annually recognize backstage, guest services, and education volunteers who have made exceptional contributions to the recently completed Playhouse season. These volunteers, including a Dick Brown Superior Volunteer award and Spirit award, are announced live at the event.
Actors nominated by audiences throughout the season with final recognition chosen by season ticket holders are also announced. Acting nominees are:

The Playhouse mission, as one of Iowa's largest and oldest producing theatres, is to create extraordinary, shared experiences through live theatre. Located at the 42nd Street exit of I-235, the theatre has presented a full season of shows since 1919 and also offers a wide variety of educational experiences including classes for ages 4 to adult, theatre trips to New York, and volunteer opportunities onstage and backstage.
