2010-11 Mainstage Season

Three musicals fresh from Broadway, a new comedy, and a new drama! Our 2010-11 season is one of our most exciting yet. Take a look at our great lineup of shows:

  • THE DROWSY CHAPERONE (Sept. 10-Oct. 3, 2010) A Jazz-Age, comical romp through musical theatre. Return to an era when prohibition reigned, liquor flowed like water, and showgirls ruled the stage while gangsters were a dime a dozen.
  • DUCK HUNTER SHOOTS ANGEL (Nov. 5-21, 2010) Two bumbling Alabama duck-hunting brothers think they have shot an angel in this heartfelt comedy by Mitch Albom, author of Tuesdays with Morrie.
  • STILL LIFE (Jan. 28-Feb. 13, 2011) Photographer Carrie Ann shuts down for no reason at the height of her career. Afraid to even pick up a camera, her sudden descent is interrupted by a whirlwind romance with Jeff. A Playhouse find direct from New York!
  • DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS (Mar. 25-Apr. 17, 2011) Two con men – one sophisticated and suave, the other a common crook with tall tales – excel at swindling women out of their money. After deciding the French Riviera is not big enough for both of them, a contest ensues.
  • THE WEDDING SINGER (June 3-26, 2011) When his fiancée leaves him standing at the altar, Robbie becomes a wedding planner's worst nightmare, taking out his bitterness on stage until his eye and heart turn to a new friend.

We're also pleased to give our subscribers the first opportunity to purchase tickets to our holiday show: CINDERELLA. First created for Julie Andrews, CINDERELLA is the classic fairy tale set to incredible music by Rodgers & Hammerstein. Bring your children and grandchildren to CINDERELLA this December! 2010-11 Kate Goldman Children's Theatre Season

  • THE ADVENTURES OF NATE THE GREAT and GOONEY BIRD GREENE AND HER TRUE LIFE ADVENTURES (Oct. 8-24, 2010) One exceptional night -- two extraordinary characters! The sharpest kid detective ever to solve his neighborhood's mysteries takes the stage. With his faithful dog, Sludge, and his friends, Nate solves important cases, always remembering to leave a note for his mother and wear his galoshes! After intermission, Gooney Bird Greene takes the stage. Gooney Bird Greene's girl power comes from being the hero of her own outlandish stories -- flying from China on a magic carpet, directing a symphony orchestra, rescuing her cat from inside a cow! As the new kid in class, Gooney Bird entertains her class and mystifies her teacher with her distinctive flair for suspense!
  • RODGERS & HAMMERSTEIN'S CINDERELLA (Dec. 10-23, 2010) Glittering enchantment flourishes in this magical, musical fairy tale that has transported generations to a kingdom where dreams come true. Cinderella will have the hearts of children and adults alike singing when the slipper fits.
  • JAMES AND THE GIANT PEACH (Feb. 18-Mar. 6, 2011) Glowing green stones have the power to transform anything they touch, including James Henry Trotter who escapes from the clutches of Aunt Sponge and Aunt Spiker in a delicious, squishy peach.
  • MISS NELSON IS MISSING! (May 6-22, 2011) The baffling disappearance of dear, sweet Miss Nelson brings a substitute—the hard-as-nails, detention-loving, recess-cancelling, homework-happy Viola Swamp. Terrified students will do anything to solve the mystery and bring her back!
